We are finally waking up from the hockey fever and reflecting on the biggest event SMART Production has ever organised and executed. And we are emotional. After all, a record attendance of nearly 800,000 spectators, television broadcasts to many countries, and a gold medal for the Czech Republic is something we wouldn’t have dreamed of two years ago at the start of preparations. It is the most beautiful reward.
In addition to our ten-member on-site team, we thank all the other implementation teams for their great cooperation. It was wonderful to be a part of all this.
And what did the Ice Hockey World Championship mean for us in numbers, besides half a year of intense workload?
• 5 weeks in the arenas
• 29 versions of the O2 Arena and O2 Universum layout, 25 versions of the TV Compound layout, 33 versions of the Prague Fan Zone, 16 versions of the Ostravar Arena layout, 23 versions of the Ostrava Fan Zone
• At O2 Universum, we built a practice rink that required 8 trucks to transport, 14,000 liters of coolant, 3 cooling units, and 1 large boiler
• 4 Zamboni machines maintained the training and tournament ice
• In total, we delivered 4 trucks of furniture, 6 trucks of equipment for the IIHF, hockey teams, partners, 15 trucks of technology and other materials • We built nearly 1 km of temporary walls
• The longest cable route from the TV compound to the arena was 550 m long
• For the TV Compound, 2 trucks brought scaffolding for cable routes, walkways, and stairs, the total distribution of technical electricity was 8.5 km, and 35 container units arrived for television broadcasts
• 1 innovative solution for suspended TV studios in Ostravar Arena
• 4 television studios in Prague and 5 in Ostrava, 35 commentator positions
